BLACK INDIANS

Le 15 décembre 2022, nous nous sommes rendus au musée du quai Branly voir l’exposition « Black Indians ». Ces « Black indians » sont des noirs américains de Louisiane, descendants d’esclaves, qui se sont liés aux amérindiens et se sont imprégnés de leur culture.

Il y avait plusieurs salles. Nous y avons appris l’histoire des amérindiens mais surtout des noirs américains. Il y avait en effet une salle dédiée à leurs cultures. Une grande partie de l’exposition était dédiée à l’esclavagisme et à la ségrégation aux Etats-Unis. On peut voir un tableau impressionnant sur le Ku-klux-Klan. Il y avait des pancartes retraçant la ségrégation des lieux comme les toilettes ou les bus.

Une des salles était dédiée à la tempête Katrina qui a dévasté la Louisiane et surtout le quartier où vivent les « Black Indians ».

La dernière salle était consacrée au carnaval et nous avons pu voir beaucoup de costumes colorés impressionnants et magnifiques.

On December 15^th 2022 we went to the museum of the Quai Branly for the exhibition about « Black Indians in New Orleans ». We saw the evolution of Louisiana, the history of slavery and discimination against colored people. We saw costumes for the carnival.

Our opinion :

• Jessica : I found the exhibition beautiful because the costumes were colorful and beautiful.
• Donioni : « It was good because I saw a short filmabout theBlack Indians. »
• Angelina : « I found the exhibition very interesting concerning discrimination and costumes.
• Blandine : It was very interesting because it dealt with a brilliant subject.
• « I was shocked by the pictures on slavery. » Cécile said.
• « The voodoo religion scares me. »Cécile said.
• « I liked the white bison costume because it was awesome. »Diarrietou said.
• « I was impressed by the colorful costumes because they were magnificent » Irem said.
• « Hurricane Katrina impressed me because it devastated the state of Louisiana. It impressed me because it lasted a week. » Yasmina said.
• « I loved this exhibition because I saw the big room on the costumes with lots of beautiful colors »
• « I saw there were costumes and headresses, in another room we saw a work on the ku klux klan. (Ines)
